Name the Eleventh Planet

My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas.

Many people use this short sentence (or something like it) to remember the names of the planets in order of their distance from the sun. The first letter of each word stands for a planet: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto.

Suppose that the newly discovered planetoid named Sedna (see http://www.sciencenewsforkids.org/articles/20040407/Feature1.asp ) counts as the tenth planet in the solar system and that you have just found another large, mysterious object even farther out than Sedna.

What name would you give to this 11th member of the solar system's family of planets? Notice that planet names tend to be the names of gods in ancient mythology.

Make up an 11-word sentence that gives the names of these 11 planets in order of their distance from the sun.

Send us the name you would pick for a newly discovered planet, explaining why you would choose it, and a sentence you could use to remember the order of all 11 planets to challenge@snkids.com. Please include your first name, age, city or town, and state. If you are under 13 years old, get your parent's permission to write to us. You may be eligible to win a prize!
