Working in Space (Part 3)

Challenge: Living on the Moon

Eric's story, "A Man's Place", is told through the experiences of the cook, Jamie Squires. Pick another character from Eric's story, or create your own. Write an adventure this person has on the moon. It can be part of the storm and what happens, or a new adventure. Keep in mind what Eric's story tells you about conditions on the moon and the potential dangers.

Part of Eric's job in the space industry is to learn and imagine all he can about living in space. In this way, his stories help him do his work as well. Think of what you might do if you were able to live and work in a lunar colony like the one he describes in his story. Let your imagination go. What jobs might be important that weren't mentioned in the story?

A lunar base.

Eric belongs to a group of writers. They talk about ideas and problems. They also read each other's stories and offer helpful comments. If you are stuck starting your story, you might want to work with someone else, too.

Send your story to challenge@snkids.com. Please include your first name, age, city or town, and state. If you are under 13 years old, get your parent's permission to write to us. You may be eligible for a prize!
