A Wintry Delete

Elvis typed the word SNOWING on his computer. Then he deleted the letter N, which left SOWING. He continued to delete one letter at a time, always creating a new word, until only one letter was left, and that, too, was a word. In what order did Elvis delete the letters?

Adapted from Visual Brainstorms, a brainteaser game from ThinkFun (www.thinkfun.com).
