Sock Sort

Sammi never sorts her socks. She just throws the clean ones in a drawer. Ten red socks and ten green socks are jumbled together. The 20 socks are exactly alike except for their color. If Sammi closes her eyes and pulls out socks without peeking, what is the smallest number that she can take out and still be sure to have a matching pair.

Adapted from Visual Brainstorms, a brainteaser game from ThinkFun (www.thinkfun.com).
