A Rising Tide
The whaling ship Pequod is resting peacefully at anchor. Over its side hangs a ladder with rungs 1 foot apart. If eight rungs are above the waterline at low tide and the tide rises at 8 inches per hour, how many rungs will still be above the waterline in 4 hours?
