Supporting Science News for Kids

Launched by Society for Science & the Public in 2003, Science News for Kids is an interactive, educational Web site devoted to providing science news to children ages 9 to 14. Content is offered in a captivating and informative manner to more than 12,000 unique visitors daily and over 3 million visitors annually.

Society for Science & the Public is honored to have received the funding necessary to launch and continue providing Science News for Kids through generous grants from several corporations and foundations. Generous support in past years has come from the American Honda Foundation, the Dow Chemical Company, Elmer's, E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, and Shell Oil Company.

In 2010, SSP is honored to have received support from the Lasker Foundation for Science News for Kids. The Lasker Foundation's mission is to foster the prevention and treatment of disease and disabilities by honoring excellence in basic and clinical science, by educating the public, and by advocating for support of medical research. Support from the Foundation will enable SSP to feature medicine and medical research-related articles as part of its award-winning content in 2010.
