NEC Perfect Classroom Competition

NEC Extreme Science invites all middle school science teachers to share their visions of the perfect classroom. A national competition for middle school science teachers, the NEC Perfect Classroom Competition is designed to support teachers' efforts to improve their classrooms and enhance the learning experiences of their students. Through this program, middle school science teachers can compete for monetary awards that would allow them to make their vision of the perfect classroom a reality.

How Do I Enter?

  • Entries must be submitted in the form of a "video essay" with a maximum length of 3 minutes. Video essays should be submitted in a VHS format and labeled with the following information: Your name, school, address, telephone number, and grade level taught.

  • You can do whatever you want to best explain what your perfect classroom would be like. You can sit in front of the camera and tell us about your ideal classroom. You can use visuals to display what you would do. Be creative!

  • Although applicants are not expected to submit professional-quality videotapes, it is important that the quality of the videotape allow the selection committee members to see and hear clearly your description of the perfect classroom.

  • Applicants may have someone else shoot the video (e.g. another teacher or a student), but only one camera should be used to videotape the description.

  • Videotapes submitted as part of the application process may be used for public relations purposes.

  • Send the videotape, entry form, and signed publicity release to:

  • Deadline for entries is Monday, Feb. 9, 2004.
    Winners will be selected and announced in conjunction with National Teacher Appreciation Week in May 2004.
