Science News for Kids is a freely accessible online magazine published since 2003 by the nonprofit membership organization, Society for Science & the Public. Thanks to the support of generous corporations, foundations, and other organizations who believe in the importance of promoting the understanding and appreciation of science and the vital role it plays in human advancement, the Society has brought the world of science directly to our global community, through Science News for Kids and other publications and programming, for nearly a century.

Sponsors of Science News for Kids in 2013 will help deepen coverage and build more resources to support STEM education, better connecting real-world news and the achievements of working scientists to students and academic curricula, in and out of the classroom. Title sponsorship of Science News for Kids is available in 2013.

The Society is honored to receive supportive funding from the Albert and Mary Lasker Foundation for Science News for Kids. The Lasker Foundation’s mission is to foster the prevention and treatment of disease and disabilities by honoring excellence in basic and clinical science, by educating the public, and by advocating for support of medical research. Support from the Lasker Foundation will enable SSP to feature medicine and medical research-related articles.

The Society also thanks and acknowledges Agilent Technologies Foundation, Elmer’s Products, the Northrop Grumman Foundation, and the United Airlines Foundation for their general support of Science News for Kids. In addition, we would like to acknowledge and thank the hundreds of individuals who have provided donations and joined the Society as members in 2012, as their support also enables the freely accessible content made available throughout the site.

The Society also acknowledges and thanks Broadcom Foundation and Intel Foundation for their tremendous commitment and ongoing support for its work.

Original funding support for Science News for Kids was provided by generous grants from the Willis Harlow Shapley Education Fund, American Honda Foundation, the Dow Chemical Company, E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, and the Shell Oil Company.
